Our History:
| The Sussex County Interfaith Hospitality Network first opened
it's doors to shelter local homeless families in 1998, and since
then has provided emergency shelter, meals and support services
to over 100 family members each year. SCIHN is compromised of
a network of 44 congregations and over 1,000 volunteers who
are united in the mission to help families who are homeless.
While our team of volunteers provides shelter guests with companionship,
meals, support and compassion, SCIHN staff work with guests
to develop realistic goals that will move them to permanent
housing. Case Management helps guests find and keep jobs, begin
savings plans and connect with available services in the community.
Many families have been successful in returning to self-sufficient
living. SCIHN is funded by individuals, religious & civic
organizations, corporations, foundations and government grants.
SCIHN is funded in part by grants from the Department of Human
Services of Sussex County. |
